The Chosen Food Supper Club: Rosh Hashanah in Aleppo

The Jewish Museum and Archives of BC is pleased to present the final evening in our supper club series, The Chosen Food. Each event in this series will showcase a regional style of Jewish cuisine.

With Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) just around the corner, this evening we enjoy a traditional Aleppian Rosh Hashanah Feast. Each year, Aleppian Jews celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a set menu of dishes symbolizing our wishes for the new year. Dates, apples, leeks, swiss chard, gourd, black eyed peas, and pomegranate are some of the symbolic ingredients.

As we dig in to this feast, our guide, Debbie Tabenken, will share with us the significance of these dishes.
