Ida Halpern was a trailblazing ethnomusicologist who transformed western understanding of Indigenous songs through her 30 years of work with Chief Billy Assu and other leaders of BC’s Coastal Nations. This exhibit is being developed by the JMABC in collaboration with the descendants of those recorded, the Bill Reid Gallery, and the BC Archives. With your support, it will enhance public awareness of Ida Halpern, a pioneering member of our community.
