Public Statement on Rising Xenophobia
The Board and Staff of the Jewish Museum and Archives of BC stand with our friends and neighbours of Asian heritage who face a rising tide of racism here in our streets.
Public health and financial crises frequently spark a rise in racist incidents, and the current COVID-19 crisis is sadly no exception. In this case, Canadians of Asian descent have disproportionately been the targets of such attacks, slurs and prejudice.
We applaud the work of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival and Project 1907 to document this rise in xenophobia through the Elimin8hate Campaign. We look forward to viewing the public service announcements that the project will produce, and applaud this creative response to a disturbing situation.
In solidarity,
